Can, Could ও Would এর ব্যবহার

1. কাহারো কোন কিছু করার ক্ষমতা, যোগ্যতা, সামর্থ বা সুযোগ আছে বা কেউ কোন কিছু করতে সক্ষম এইরূপ অর্থ প্রকাশ করতে Verb এর Present form এর আগে Can ব্যবহৃত হয় । এবং Subject 3rd Person Singular Number হওয়া সত্তেও Present Indefinite Tense এ মুল Verb  এর শেষে s বা es যোগ হয়না ।

যেমন -

• Razia can swim very well.
• Fateha can read Arabic.
• I can read and write English.
• Alima can type well.
• Sadia can write bangla Alphabet.

2. Can এর Past form হিসেবে ও Could এর ববহার হয়ে থাকে । 

যেমন -

• When I entered into the class room, I could see her.
• When I went into the house, I could see a  Calendar.
• When she entered into the Bank, She could see the man. 
• When Jamal went to Dhaka, he could see the zoo. 
• When Choity went to Sylhet, she could see the tea garden.
• When Alima reached home, she could see her aunt.

   3.কোন কিছু করতে কারো সক্ষমতা বুঝাতেও Could এর ব্যবহার হয়ে থাকে ।

যেমন-

• Raisha could speak both English and Arabic.
• Shopon could write both Hindi and English.
• Sujan could play both cricket and football.
• Tania could cook both rice and meat.
• When we were in Dhaka, we could not swim in the river. 
• when we were at College, we could not do what we wanted.

  4.কাউকে কোন প্রশ্ন করতে Could ও Would এর ব্যবহার হয়ে থাকে । সাধারণত ভদ্রতার সহিত কাউকে কোন প্রশ্ন করতে could ও would এর বেশী ব্যবহার হয়ে থাকে ।

যেমন-

•  Could you please tell me the time ?
• Would you please tell me the time ?
• Excuse me, could you tell me the way to the post office ?
• Could you please wait a bit ?
• Would you please tell me your name ?
• Excuse me, could I please talk to you ?
• Would you tell me how I can reach the station ?
  
  Note: can, could, may, might, should, would, must, used to, ought to, has to, have to ইত্যাদি Modal auxiliary verb যদি sentence এ কোন কিছুর নিশ্চয়তা, সম্বাবনা, অসম্বাবনা, প্রয়োজনীয়তা, অনুমতি, বাধ্যবাধকতা ইত্যাদি ভাব প্রকাশ করে থাকে, তবে বাক্যের Subject third person singular number হলেও মূল verb এর শেষে s বা es যোগ হবেনা ।
